Frequently Asked Questions

REGISTRATION

  • Yes. Students may join after the semester has begun if space is available and the class is an appropriate fit. Tuition will be prorated based on the remaining classes. We recommend contacting us before registering so we can help determine the best placement for your student.

  • Yes. New students are required to pay a one-time, non-refundable registration fee at the time of their initial enrollment. This fee helps cover enrollment processing and reserves your student's place in the program.

  • Because our classes follow a structured curriculum that progresses throughout the semester, we do not offer trial classes.
    However, we're happy to help you find the best program for your student. Please email the following information to hello@daartstudio.com:

    • Student's name

    • Date of birth

    • Current grade level

    • Artistic interests and goals

    • As many recent artwork samples as possible

    Our instructors will review the information and provide a free class placement recommendation based on your student's age, experience, skill level, and goals.

TUITION & PAYMENTS

  • Daart Studio operates on a semester-based enrollment system: 17 weeks in the Fall and 18 weeks
    in the Spring. Enrollment reserves a student's place for the entire semester.
    Total semester tuition is divided into five equal monthly payments. The first payment is due at
    registration, and subsequent payments are automatically processed on the 1st of each month.
    Monthly tuition remains the same regardless of the number of class sessions in a particular
    month.

Attendance & Make-Up Classes

  • To request a make-up class, please report your absence at least 24 hours before the scheduled class time and contact us by email at hello@daartstudio.com.


    Make-up classes are limited to one (1) per student per month and are provided in another regularly scheduled class for the same age group, subject to availability.


    Because make-up classes join an existing class, the lesson, project, or curriculum may be different from the class that was missed.

  • Make-up class credits must be used within four (4) weeks from the missed class date.


    Unused make-up credits expire after four weeks and cannot be extended, transferred, or carried over to future months. For absences that occur near the end of the semester, Daart Studio may provide a make-up opportunity before the semester ends or within a designated period, depending on class availability.

  • If a student misses a scheduled make-up class, the make-up credit will be forfeited. No additional make-up class or credit will be provided for a missed make-up class.

  • Unfortunately, make-up class credits cannot be carried over to the following semester. We kindly ask families to use their make-up credits within four (4) weeks of the missed class date, as make-up classes are subject to class availability and the current semester schedule. Any unused make-up credits will expire and cannot be extended, transferred, or carried over to a future semester.

Withdrawal & Refunds

  • Yes. Withdrawal requests may be submitted before the applicable withdrawal deadline. Requests must be submitted in writing to hello@daartstudio.com at least 30 days before the next scheduled payment date.

  • If a student withdraws before the first class begins, tuition will be fully refunded. The Registration Fee is non-refundable and will not be included in the refund.

  • No. Because Daart Studio operates on a semester-based enrollment system, withdrawal is not permitted after 50% of the semester has been completed. When a semester is divided into five scheduled installment payments, withdrawal is not permitted beginning on the date of the third installment payment.

  • No. Once the applicable withdrawal deadline has passed, no refunds or credits will be issued for the remainder of the semester.

  • The final withdrawal request date for the Fall 2026 semester is October 1, 2026. Students who submit a withdrawal request on or before this date may continue attending classes through October. No withdrawals, refunds, or credits will be granted after this date.

  • The final withdrawal request date for the Spring 2027 semester is March 1, 2027. Students who submit a withdrawal request on or before this date may continue attending classes through March. No withdrawals, refunds, or credits will be granted after this date.

  • All withdrawal requests must be submitted in writing by email to hello@daartstudio.com. A withdrawal is not considered officially submitted until the written request has been received by Daart Studio.

classes

  • For our children's classes, Daart Studio provides all of the standard art materials needed for classroom projects. Depending on the project, materials may include paper, pencils, paints, acrylics, pastels, markers, clay and pottery materials, craft supplies, glue, and other creative materials.

     

    Students enrolled in portfolio programs or adult classes may occasionally be asked to purchase and bring certain materials, such as canvases or other specialized supplies. Any required materials will be communicated in advance.

  • Students should wear an apron or comfortable clothing that can get messy, as art materials such as paint may stain clothing. Closed-toe shoes are required for safety. Students should also bring a water bottle to class.

  • Students are generally grouped by age and developmental level to create an appropriate learning environment for each age group.

In some cases, Daart Studio may recommend placing a student in a different class based on their individual needs, prior experience, skill level, or artistic foundation in order to provide the most appropriate learning environment.

Portfolio Program

  • Our students apply to a wide range of art and design programs, including top art schools, universities, and specialized programs in areas such as fine art, illustration, animation, architecture, graphic design, and other creative fields.


    Because each student's goals and interests are unique, we help students build a portfolio that reflects their individual strengths and aligns with their target schools and programs.

  • The recommended number of hours depends on the student's current skill level, goals, timeline, and target schools.

     

    For students preparing a competitive college portfolio, we generally recommend consistent weekly practice and dedicated studio time. During portfolio development, many students benefit from 4–12 hours per week, depending on their goals, level of commitment, and stage of preparation.
    Because every student's situation is different, recommendations may vary based on the student's grade level, application timeline, target schools, and current portfolio progress.

  • Yes. Daart Studio provides guidance throughout the portfolio preparation process, including portfolio planning, artwork selection, refinement, and presentation.

    While we specialize in the artistic portfolio process, students and families are responsible for completing general college application requirements, such as application forms, transcripts, and standardized testing.

  • We offer one-on-one portfolio consulting sessions for students preparing for art college admissions.
    Sessions include:

    • Personalized consulting tailored to your target schools and programs

    • Guidance on portfolio development and artwork selection

    • Artist statement editing and feedback

    • Artwork photography and digital editing guidance

    • Portfolio design and file preparation

    Our goal is to help students create a cohesive portfolio that represents their artistic voice, strengths, and creative goals.
